Fossil: Fraud Country Blocker: Privacy Policy

Fossil: Fraud Country Blocker (the “App”) is developed and operated by Fossil Apps (“we”, “us”, “our”). The App lets merchants block or redirect visitors to their online store based on the visitor’s country or region. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used and shared when you install or use the App with your store, and how the App processes information about visitors to your store.

1. Information the App collects

a) Information collected through the platform’s APIs when you install the App

Store details: store name, store domain/URL, store owner name and email address, store country, currency and plan.
An access token that lets the App use the permissions you approved.
Theme information needed to run the App’s theme extension.

b) Information you provide

App settings such as the countries/regions you select, block or redirect actions and redirect URLs.
Messages you send to our support team, including your name and email address.

c) Information about visitors to your store

When a visitor loads your storefront, the App’s script processes:

The visitor’s IP address, used to estimate country and region (IP geolocation);
The estimated country and region;
The page URL visited, browser user-agent, and the date and time of the visit;
The action taken by the App (allowed, blocked or redirected).

The App does not access or store customer names, email addresses, payment details or order contents, and it does not use cookies for advertising or tracking visitors across websites.

2. How we use the information

To provide the App: apply your rules, show blocked or redirect pages, and display visitor logs in your App dashboard;
To communicate with you about the App, including support, service and billing notices;
To maintain, secure and improve the App, including troubleshooting and preventing abuse.

We do not sell personal information and do not use visitor information for advertising.

3. Sharing your information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the App, under contracts requiring them to protect it:

We may also disclose information to comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, or protect our rights.

4. Data retention

Visitor logs are kept for up to 90 days and then deleted automatically.
Store details and settings are kept while the App is installed.
When you uninstall the App, we delete your store’s data within 30 days of receiving the platform’s data-erasure request (for Shopify, the shop/redact request sent 48 hours after uninstall), unless we must keep it to meet legal obligations.

5. Your rights and data requests

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or another region with data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to processing. Merchants can contact us directly. Visitors to a merchant’s store should contact the merchant, who controls that data; we support merchants with these requests. We respond to the platform’s mandatory privacy requests (for Shopify: customers/data_request, customers/redact and shop/redact) within 30 days.

For visitor data, the merchant is the data controller and Fossil Apps acts as a data processor on the merchant’s behalf.

6. Where we store data

Fossil Apps is based in India. App data may be stored and processed in India or in other countries where our hosting providers operate. When personal information from Europe is transferred outside Europe, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls and limited staff access to protect information. No system is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify affected merchants of a data breach as required by law.

8. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App or legal requirements. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date.
